Hint 1: Clue Explanation
▼I love combinations of long clues with short entries or short clues with long entries. The first of these, 43A — [Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious] — solves to A ONE; this is old slang for “perfectly fabulous” that originated from ratings of ships by Lloyd’s of London in the 1700s. 45A, [Pooped], solves to a phrase that seemed to be a letter too short when I first figured it out: PLUM TUCKERED OUT. But shouldn’t it be “plumb,” for “straight” or “completely”? Everyone seems to agree with me except the decapentalogophilic (15-letter-long-loving) puzzleverse; PLUM TUCKERED OUT has been in two prior crosswords, but the “b” version has yet to appear. (“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” amazingly, was an entry in 2015.)
