Solution: Sources of weekly N.C.A.A. rankings - NYT Crossword

This is a debut, and one of those terms that looks wrong in a grid no matter how many times you look at it — not “appalls,” but AP POLLS, as in weekly Associated Press pollings in which “a panel of 61 sportswriters and broadcasters from around the country” is relied on to create N.C.A.A. college football rankings. I guess I’ll mention GIING here because it also made me a bit cross-eyed and I do not like it, simply because it reminds me of the very twee term “adulting.” GIING debuted in the puzzle in 1988, so it’s been around the block. Still looks nutty.
