Imagine my surprise when I learned that this word had been used in a 1959 Sunday puzzle. Kidding! This is something new to the world, I think, although how did we ever live without it? Think “Zumba,” which debuted in the Times in September 2017; it’s dance for fitness, a new incarnation of aerobics done to snappy Latin music, mostly. This entry dips into the pool as AQUA ZUMBA. Pretty much self-explanatory, but if you’re curious about other existing variations of Zumba, there are several, including “Zumba Sentao” and “Zumbini” (which sounds like an Italian pastry but is actually baby Zumba, natch). Just wait until space Zumba! My rickety knees will love that.
