Ick! Here it is. Somehow, I never learned what the “dank” in DANK MEMES means, even though I’d heard the term so many times. It was the context that always made me cringe — always. So it was new to me that “dank” refers to a strain of WACKY TOBACKY, which is of course marijuana. The “dank” description seems ironic to me because there’s something undeniably gross about it, although when I come up with synonyms (sticky, damp, musty) these might be desired qualities for some. But MEMES are unquestionably, for the most part, ironic.
