Solution: All 12 Disney princesses, e.g - NYT Crossword

My mother, a periodic commenter on Wordplay, would say something embarrassing in the comments if I didn’t flag that “All 12 Disney princesses, e.g.” are TEENS. As a child, I used Princess Ariel’s marriage at 16 to justify all sorts of behaviors I thought I should be allowed to get away with — after all, if a mermaid could get married at 16, then surely I, a 9-year-old human, should be allowed some smaller freedoms. In retrospect, those girls were making some awfully important life decisions as TEENS without fully-developed prefrontal cortices!
