Hint 1: Clue Explanation
▼This was probably not done deliberately, but I got a kick out of the crosswordese crossing of OLEO and OLIO. Solvers ask me how they are supposed to remember which is which. I just tell them that OLEO is a margarine, which has an “E” at the end, and OLIO can be a stew, which has no “I” at all. That usually straightens them right out. (Interesting etymological note: The word OLIO is derived from another piece of crosswordese, the OLLA).
