Solution: Potpie ingredient - NYT Crossword

A brief lesson on how to read clues so that you don’t feel like tearing your hair out, because this comes up quite often. When a clue says something like “Potpie ingredient” and the answer is MEAT, it does not mean that all potpies contain meat. Most New York Times Crossword clues do not use an article at the beginning, and they also need to be fairly short and snappy. So you would never see a clue that reads “A potpie ingredient, but not necessarily the only one and, of course, some potpies are absolutely vegetarian, please don’t hurt us.”
