It solves to BOO, as in, “Don’t say boo,” an old expression that describes when someone suffers small misfortunes in silence, whether out of meekness or stoicism. Right below BOO is 31A, “‘Someone call the fire department, because you just got burned!’” This is modern, although the meaning of “burn” as “victimize” dates to the 17th century. The entry is a new one on me: BOOM, ROASTED. I looked at these two entries together and was amused by BOO BOOM ROASTED for reasons that I can’t really explain.
