Solution: Herbalists' panaceas - NYT Crossword

This is a real toughie, in my opinion, making its second appearance overall (and its debut as a plural word). “Panaceas,” from the clue, made me think of cure-alls, so “cures all” was my first thought for this spot. The correct answer is ALL-HEALS, which is also the more precise translation of the Latin clue and refers to a member of the mint family that has been used medicinally for centuries. Mints spread wildly, but a gardener with a mole problem might bury garden MESH around plants for protection. (Perhaps that garden contains an ARUM or two, but not in the medicinal section, as they’re poisonous.)
