Solution: Daisy Dukes, e.g - NYT Crossword

Of course this is the seed entry today! “Daisy Dukes” are denim short shorts, or BOOTY SHORTS, because of a moment in television time, “The Dukes of Hazzard.” They could have been Debbie Harrys or even Cindys, after Cindy Crawford, but Catherine Bach’s character spurred a craze and her name stuck. There is something agreeably fun about the placement of BOOTY SHORTS over KING OF BEERS (which is also a slogan, although you’d never know it from “Draft status?” unless that clue made you think of Clydesdales). It’s no wonder that the next step down is a MEDIA CIRCUS, but I’m really surprised that all three of these fun terms are new to the Crossword.
