▼It’s quite hard not to overthink clues on the weekends, I think, so the straightforwardness of some of the entries at the bottom of this grid did not strike me until I looked at them in the rear view mirror. I was sure this was a tennis reference, not the simple and common “court order”: PLEASE RISE. Likewise, I thought “showgoers” might be dogs, horses or even cars before figuring out OPERA CAPES. When I think of this garment, I think of Adam Sandler! (Both of those entries, by the way, are debuts.)
