Solution: Obsolescent living room fixture - NYT Crossword

It’s fair to assume that we’re looking for something electric or electronic here, as opposed to a denim barcalounger that still holds up O.K. I figured this could be cathode ray tube-related, as I remember leaving my last boxy television out on the street with a chirpy “Still works!” label on it and walking by it for days before sanitation put it out of its misery. But I still have a PLASMA TV! It works great and it’s too expensive to throw out just because Mr. Wentz says so. It wasn’t as pricey as this RCA 2000, though. Obsolescent, my eye.
