Solution: Gymnastics rings feat with arms fully extended - NYT Crossword

This is an entry with a checkered past in the crossword (and an interesting back story in this puzzle, if you read Mr. Buchbinder’s notes). IRON CROSS was clued as a gymnastics move once before, in 1991, and I can’t really tell if there is any relationship between men’s gymnastics rings and the military award with the same name, since they both apparently came about in Germany in the early 19th century. I thought it wild that as recently as 2015 this entry was clued as a “Classic symbol of rebellion,” which seems to refer to motorcycle regalia. People took issue with that clue in the comments of its Wordplay column, so plus ça change, I guess.
