Solution: ___ shoes (ballet wear) - NYT Crossword

I finished the northwest corner of this puzzle last, which happens pretty frequently on Saturdays. I don’t know if I psyche myself out or if it’s an objective thing: I tend to gloss over anything tricky at the beginning of a clue list, and I didn’t get any traction at the acrosses in this quadrant (not familiar with Dilbert’s INTERN, and SITS ON, at 15A, makes sense but didn’t jump out at me at first). I think of “toe” shoes for when ballerinas dance en POINTE, but the term is perfectly correct and probably a gimme for the dancers among us.
