Solution: Cuba's ___ Bay - NYT Crossword

Light political commentary time: I did not love seeing GUANTÁNAMO (“Cuba’s ___ Bay”) in the puzzle. Yes, it’s a real place, and yes, it’s a newsworthy location that appears in The Times, so by the editorial standards of the New York Times Crossword, it is a valid entry. But it’s also the site of horrific human rights violations, torture and sexual abuse. Opinions will, of course, vary over whether such a thing should appear in a puzzle, and I do not mean to prescribe how other constructors should go about their business, but I personally would not put GUANTÁNAMO into a puzzle given that context. This is also a particularly bad week to feature Sarah PALIN in a puzzle, but I feel less strongly about that one.
